Woodard announced the Mount Lemmon closure at a virtual community meeting Tuesday evening that was shown live on Facebook on the Bighorn Fire information page. The fire has now grown to 119,541 acres and is 89 percent contained, fire officials said Tuesday.

We drove from Tucson to Summer Haven atop MT Lemmon. The drive was very pleasant as we drive up 8000 feet and the temperature dropped 23 degrees. The road was well maintained and had Many beautiful lookout vistas. Definitely worth the time if you are in the area.

Today, the Pima County Department of Transportation announced that the Mount Lemmon Highway will reopen beginning Saturday, Aug. 1. The reopening will allow vehicle access on Mount Lemmon Highway to Summerhaven and Ski Valley. Limited parking is available in these areas.
